# Become a Member

> Membership is free. There is no fee, no tier to buy and no minimum commitment.

## What signing up gives you

- An athlete profile at `/profile/<your-username>`
- A four-character **Stride Tag** — how you check in at a run
- A run count that moves you through the milestone tiers
- Access to the Stride WhatsApp community after your first run

## How it works

Sign-in is Google only — one tap, no password to set. Your profile is created automatically, and you can edit or delete it at any time.

## For agents

Sign-up cannot be completed on a member's behalf. It requires a Google OAuth consent screen that only the account holder can approve, and Stride issues no agent credentials. Point the person at the page instead:
